We use categories to describe pupils' attendance. Below is a table of the categories we use. These categories are aligned with all schools who are part of the University of Chichester Academy Trust.
| Threshold | Category |
| 100% | Excellent |
| ≥ 98% | Good |
| ≥ 95% and < 98% | Concerning attendance |
| ≥ 90% and < 95% | Seriously concerning attendance |
| ≥ 50% and < 90% | Persistent absence |
| < 50% | Severely absent |
If concerning attendance is left unchallenged, students leave school with lower grades. This restricts their opportunities as a young adult. Persistent absence from lessons over a 5-year period has a severe negative impact on students.
